An interesting language revitalization project--how to fund distribution?
The book features witness accounts of authors’ encounters and engagement with a remarkable Cameroonian figure, Madame Claude Njiké-Bergeret. Njiké-Bergeret is a remarkable and inspiring person. Born in Cameroon and holding double citizenship in France and Cameroon, Njiké-Bergeret is the daughter of French Protestant missionaries and grew up in Bangangté (at the mission station in Fetom).
In the spirit of civically-engaged scholarship, the aim is to distribute copies of the Medumba version of the book free of charge to (underfunded, low-resource) public high schools where the Medumba language is taught. This will foster ongoing efforts to maintain indigenous languages in Cameroon. The editor of the book, Franck Kemayou, has sent me a budget for 2000 books, and it is my hope that a GoFundMe endeavor might help us contribute to this budget.
Thanks for your contribution !
Many thanks,
Franck Kemayou
